What are those purple boxes hanging from trees? A "new" invasive insect pest, Emerald Ash Borer, has recently been detected near the western boundary of CT, and there is a multi-agency effort under way to conduct a survey and monitoring program this summer to find out whether EAB has become established in CT, and what to do if it is found. Established in 1970, the Roxbury Land Trust is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the community's rural character for generations to come. Today 3,400 acres or about 17 percent of Roxbury is conserved as open space under the Trust's stewardship.
The Roxbury Land Trust is supported through membership dues, employee matching gifts, state and federal grants, foundation grants and charitable contributions.
It is staffed by Susan Payne, executive director and Kim Norris, associate director; served by a volunteer board of directors and aided by volunteer effort.
